Sarah Kane

Today I’m going to write about the famous play writer Sarah Kane

I’m interested in writing about her, because I found her to be a great contribution to worldwide Theatre

For me Sara Kane is very important because I feel empathy with her, for the way she shows the world in her plays.

the silence and the use of words, the way she wrote and the way she transmitted pain and suffering with simple phrases, at the same time making a constant critic of society, its’ hypocrisy and fakeness.

She is very important because she is considered one of the most important authors in the world, a key figure of the in-yer-face Theatre, from England.

Her talent was recognized very early. Many of her plays were shown in the Royal Court Theatre.
Sara Kane is now translated all over the world.

Sara Kane is born February 3, 1971, in England. In a traditional family.
Always showed artistic talent. Directing,  acting, and writing at very young age.

Sara Kane was an immediate success in England.

Some of her works are:
Blasted
Phaedra’s love
Skin
Cleansed
Crave
4:48 psychosis

Even though she had great fame, she suffered a strong depression since she was young, and with time it became even worse. And passed some time of her life in clinics.
In February 20, 1999, she hanged herself, in the clinic she was being treated on.

Analyzing her life I could discover a woman disappointed with life, fame, religious ideologies, she had many needs and hardships.
With a capacity to perceive internal dramas drawn by Human beings, mostly because she lived them day to day.

Her last play,  Psychosis 4:48. is very important because it is finished just before she died, in her she portrayed the hard lifetime of a person that suffers from this mental illness, it is sort of her suicide note. Telling somehow that time was done for her.

“The theater has no memory, which makes it the most existential of the arts.
Sarah Kane, 1998”.
